Tunze Osmometer Nano Pump Question

I will soon be going on my honeymoon for 2 weeks, and am using this as an opportunity to convince the new wife that I need an ATO. I have a 65 gallon tank, with no sump. I am looking at getting the Tunze Osmometer Nano, but was curious about the pump running dry if left too long without refilling the RODI topoff container. Does anyone know if there is a fail safe on the pump so if the topoff reservoir gets too low, the pump doesn't run dry?

the pump will kill itself if on for 10 minutes without reaching the mark on the float sensor. So you have at most 10 minutes with it running dry. It will not come back on unless power is turned off and back on to it either via your house losing power or you unplugging it and plugging it back in.

+1

I guess I should also note since you would ne new to it to ensure that the outlet of the hose is above the water line so as to not create back siphon and for your ATO container to be large enough to carry you those 2 weeks.

Thanks for the fast replies! Would 10 minutes of running dry ruin the pump? not that I intend on letting the reservoir get that low, I'm just trying to see how robust it is. Also, I don't want a fire risk, especially when I'm not home. I do intend on using a 5 gallon bucket as my resivour, and have a friend come fill it up once every 4ish days. I don't want to burden anyone with having to come check on everything too frequently. I also don't want a resivour so large as to overflow my tank in the event that the float switch malfunctions.

No clue on the nano but I have the full blown one and let it run dry all the time. It doesn't seem to be a set time on how long it will run but it will keep kicking itself on every 10 to 15 minutes. I know it has gone for hours like this when I'm not home and no issues. It has never completely shut itself off like the person above mentioned the nano will do. I use about 5 gallons every 4 or 5 days for my 75gal tank with no sump.

Nice, thanks for the replies. I feel better about the pump now. I just ordered mine :) it will be a nice convenience to have before and after vacation. Now I just need to find enough $ for a nice saltwater mixing station...haha

All things have a chance to fail when you go on a vacation. I would have someone check on the tank. Leave daily amount of food per day no more.
