tunze placement

ok question, working on plans for a cube tank and looking for flow options. 1 is a CL the other is tunze. i dont want pumps at the front of the tank but need water flowing back towards the overflow. this is what makes a CL appealing but in thinking about options i figured id ask this question.....could i place a ball stream on the bottom of the tank and angle the waters tream towards the overflow???

You could, but you would have to be careful that the pump could not take in sand and detritus, this wouldn't work if you are using very fine sand and in any case, the pump should be at least 4-6" above the sand.
