I'm thinking of buying this pump for my return. Please help me figure out my flow. I just started 3 weeks ago 200g tank, 230 total with sump. Planing to keep SPS. Sump is in basement. 11' head. I calculated 1664 GPH. Currently I'm using Iwaki 70. It's old and not electr. efficient. (I want use it for back up.) There is 8' 1 1/2 pipe goes to T then two 1/1/2 3' flex go to 3/4 reducer to two 3/4 sea swirls. They can handle 800 GPH each. there is one more T from return: I'm feeding rowaphose and carbon reactors. So 1664 GPH with all unions ball valve and T feeding two reactors probably it's gonna be approximately 1550?
Does anyone have experience with this pump?

The 1073.09 is somethging I want to research further before selling more, we had 2 out of 7 come back for noise issues and I want to test these and find the source- could be user error or just that they don't work in certain applications. No complaints so far on the bigger ones but we have only sold a couple of each of those.

Thanks for answer Roger. I'm researching my return pump. Not in the rush. This pump looks very interesting. May be noise has something to do with 115V/60Hz? What is the noise level? I've heard it's similar to Dart? What is the 11' head loss in feet for this pump?
Thank you.

Roger,

WHere the heck can i find one of these pumps? I have been trying to find some imfo on these pumps but places like MD dont list them.

The problem could be because our pumps are 115V/ 60Hz, when i called the factory they insisted none of the 230V pumps had any bad reviews. That is why i am kind of on my own in figuring this out. The flow should be roughly 1500gph.

Any word on the Tunze recirc pump 1073.090? I am considering purchasing one but waiting to hear of others experience.

The pump is only availabe for 60Hz in 115V. The noise issue is apparently solved, the problem is supposedly the housing of the impeller and they sent me a few of a new design to try out.

Hi Roger,

How is the noise level of this pump compared to Sequence Dart? Can I get one to try out?   I just set up a 3'x3'x2' tank and am using Dart as return, which I think is noisy.

I also need to buy two more 6200 outlet, two 6100 transformer, and one old style swivel arm. Right now I could not find them anywhere.

Thanks,

Sean

Is this being addressed in the 1073.140 version also (if there is an issue)? I really want to get this pump very soon but its going in my bedroom.

Thanks.

From what I have heard the 1073.14 and 1073.16 don't have a noise issue after they run a while but I haven't had much time to talk with anyone at Tunze about all the specifics. i just got an email saying they found the problem and it specified the 1073.09.

From the feedback I have gotten the pump is about equal in noise to a DART.
