Tunze Selection Question

I am going to be upgrading my tank from a 30 gallon to a 72 bowfront tank. I am interested in gettting a 6000 with a controller. I will be keeping mainly LPS and SPS and will have a 1.5" fine sand bed. Will the 6000 be enough flow? I have about 500 gallon coming from the sump and have a canister filter that I have essentially been using as a closed loop. I should be able to position these to help eliminate dead spots. I would like to get two 6000's with a multicontroller but $750 is a little steep right now as the tank fell into my lap and am trying to get all the equipment all at once. Or would two 6060's positioned at each end of the tank be a better option?

The single 6000 would be your best option and I think you would be much happier if you went with a coarser sand. The fine sand is problematic with these pumps and since it won't be deep enough to really function as a DSB a coarser grade 2-3mm grain would work just as well.

With just one stream do you have any placement recommendations? Also, approximately what distance from the output nozzle does the stream reach its widest flow pattern? I placed my order today and am quite excited to start playing around with it.

On a bowfront I would put the stream in the opposite corner from the overflow and aim it at the front center. I think the whole tank will be covered pretty well. The flow reaches its 24" width at about 24" away.
