Tunze "Skimmer Mod" Question

Hi Roger! A quick question:

I've been observing the new Tunze skimmers and their new processes for creating bubbles, as well as the different technology applications on competitive products.

I am wondering if there are any retrofits that can be performed on my 9010 that would increase its skimming efficiency as compared to the new Tunze models.

If not, are there any user mods that I could consider making?

thx...

When we redesigned the Comline skimmers a few years back and created the 90xx series we originally were working with needle wheel pumps. Despite numerous tries (we spent over a year on this path with dozens of needle wheel designs) we could not get it to work. The skimmer body is too small and the high air throughput eventually just displaces all the water and the whole skimmer becomes a big box of air. It worked great for 3 days max and then the problems started. This is why we stuck with the venturi. It is possible that in the future we may find a way, we are still working on this but it doesn't look promising without a major design change.

P.S. What about any of the "mech mods" that people have used on other products... any value in doing the same on a Tunze? Any results or war stories to share? thx!

Mesh mods should only work on needle wheel or brush wheel type skimmers. People claim it works on the 9010 but there is no logical reason for it to work.
