I have the 9002 model, I am having a problem controlling the airflow. If the airflow is to much it bubbles and fills the collection cup with water, if I turn it to the closed position the bubbles are very small but it continues to fill the cup with water in a matter minutes. I must be missing something.

This could be due to an additive or because the skimmer needs to be raised up a bit (less deeply submerged).
Any of these can cause a surface tension change and a foam over, regardless of air setting-
Slime algae killer, any medication, any aiptasia killer, any dechlorinator/stress coat, amino and vitamin supplements, new filter floss or pads which are not labeled phenol free (if you use any non phenol free filter floss or pads, rinse it thoroughly in hot water before use to reduce this effect), many filter resins can also cause this. When the substance is discontinued it usually resolves within a week, the typical pattern will be foaming over for a few days, followed by almost no skimming for a few days and then it will revert to normal, dump the clear water anyway as it will be removing much of this material.
If the above does not apply, try raising the skimmer so the marked water line is as much as 3/4" above the water.
