Tunze Stream 6100

I have a 92-gallon corner tank with mixed corals (mostly LPS and a few SPS). I have a very light sand media and hope to expand the population of SPS in the tank. I have just purchased two Stream 6100s and the 7095 controller. I am concerned this might be too much flow given the configuration of the tank. I have been reading about the Nanostream and wonder if 2 6045s might be a better fit. Another forum member suggested I wait for the 6055s due out in February. Please offer a suggestion.

Well the 6055 is delayed now until end of March. I think for SPS you will want the 6055's at a minimum so I agree with your friend.

I have two 6100's on a 110. Certainly not too much flow - but I am BB so sand is not an issue.

Another option is to change out the transformer for the 6000. You could either purchase them or post in the trading forum. I for one would trade you my 6000 transformers for your 6100's.

The 6100's I have are brand new - never used. I purchased them but have not yet installed them because the installation hardware is inadequate. Then I started looking at and wondering about the nano's. It certainly would be easier to just keep the 6100's but I am concerned about the flow rates and the impact on the sandbed. Does anyone have experience with their use in relatively small (90-gallon corner) tanks with a sand bed? Because it is a corner tank, the distance between the two streams will be short - less than 3-feet.

If I hold off and wait for the 6055s - I would return the 6100s to the store from which I purchased them.

I have two 6100 on a 180 with sand. I mount them with the magnet mount and suggest you do the same. You can angle them upward and prevent the sand storm. Also I have soft coral lps and zoo's as well as mushrooms, anenome etc...no sps. I adjusted the flow from the box to 3/4 instead of 100 on each and this seemed to do the trick. you also can play with the controller itself and adjust length of cycle etc until all is happy.

yes I angle the magnet and I angle the pump iself as it will rotate on the magnet holder. sometimes it is just a matter of where you point the tunze. It tanks a bit of patience to get right but it can be done. I have one on the back wall next to my overflow and one on the side glass.

I have two 6060s in a 120, I finally just let the sand storm go on for a day and move all the samd out of the way, then I just turkey bastered everything the next morning. I wanted both of them in the back corners so, I had to suffer the sand storm.

I just angeled one of mine up a few minutes ago so I am going through round 2 right now.

HAHA gotta love the flow.

The 6055's are less than half the flow of 6100's, the most I would use a 6055 on is a 4ft 120. What brand tank are you installing on, I have pics of how to install on Oceanic type tanks in my photo gallery.

The 92-gallon corner is by oceanic. Where can I find your pics?

Sounds like you think the flow of the 6100s might be too much and I should wait for the 6055s...

with the 6055 you will always have the option of adding more and can adjust the flow acordingly if you use the 6100 you can turn them way down and if you ever upgrade you will have them
