Tunze Stream for a 90G?

Roger, I have it set-up as you described, except pump outlets #8 and #10 continue to stay lit and not switch to #8 and #11 after the interval.

Oops. Strike that. I just checked and it switched over to #8 and #11 finally. I guess it just took hours to do so. I must have the interval set at several hours.

My problem is that I went to bed at 3:00 am because I decided to start doing serious tank work at midnight!

Oh, my SPS have a message for you -- "Roger, the Tek Light is nice, but we're dying for the good stuff!" :D

Apologies for the tangent.

Roger, Phil's had trouble with Germany promising to fax the shipping list to him day after day. He suggested I e-mail them directly, which I did yesterday. I haven't received a response yet, but hopefully soon. Phil's communication is fantastic.

Yes, it is always a little bit of chaos but we do our best. Too few people with too many ideas and too many things to do. It tends to be the same at Tunze too. Personally, I am drawn to the chaos and the uniqueness of it all. If it was easy it wouldn't be any fun.

As long as you get paid!:D (somewhat joking!)

My understanding is that there's a lot of red tape involved in most processes over in Germany. Heck, I think even the average German word is about 26 characters long!

There is, everything needs government approval both to come in and leave but the offices are friendly and accessible, it takes time but it isn't a horrible ordeal. It usually isn't government issues though outside of limitations on the number of employees you can have within certain corporate and tax structures. It is just an issue of growing pains, there are always delays for any business to grow into it's success and there are problems that weren't foreseen.

Quick question about the 90 gallon setup in discussion. I have a very similiar setup and was wondering, where exactly to put 2 6000s in the tank. Or alternatevly, where to put 1 6000 in the tank.

Thanks

In either situation they are best positioned on the side blowing straight across or in the back corners aimed toward the opposite front corners.

For my 90g, I prefer to place my two 6000's in the front opposing tank corners, and have them on alternating current mode (wavemaker). I used to keep them in opposing corners, but I feel it works better the other way.

On a 90 gallon tank, definitely place them as high as possible. If you put them too high up, they'll suck a bit of air via mini whirpools on the water surface.

The pumps will move a 24" by 24" column at 24" from the pump so placement height is mainly governed by preventing a vortex from taking in air at the surface. We do have a solid top to the strainer to limit this but it is generally not advisable to position them less than 4" from the top. Surface movement is the most critical as it is what gives a 3D surface to boost gas exchange so I would generally want the pumps 4-6" from the surface.

After all the advice I received here and from the research I've gathered, I've decided to buy one 6000 and one 7094 controller. I'll see how the one 6000 does in the tank before purchasing another.

Thanks to Roger, DT, etc. for your help and insight.

Dementer, you'll absolutely love these pumps and will likely get a second 6000. It's so nice to have an even, gentle current washing over the entire reef, and not just a restricted section.
