Tunze Stream kit for 112 gallon?

Hey all,

I'm trying to decide which Stream kit is best for my new 60"x18"x24" marine tank. Tank volume is 112g or 425L.

I have been offered a TS12 kit at a fantastic price, but I'm worried that this might be too powerful.

The TS12 combined with my return pump will give me a total maximum turnover of 14500 L/hr - that's 34.12x an hour.

The TS07 combined with my return pump will give me a total maximum turnover of 9500 L/hr - that's 22.35x an hour.

I know I can dial the Stream down to around 30% minimum, so I'm pretty sure the TS12 will be perfectly fine. I'm just concerned about blowing my DSB apart or doing damage to my softies.

Can anyone offer advice? You might be about to suggest I go with 2 Stream 6000s, but I really need to save my pennies for the rest of the setup.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think a 6100 is a good idea for a softie tank witha DSB that is that small. Yes, I will recommend the 2 6000 and a multicontroller. If you are going to run a 6100 at low power first, that is still 1800gph or so, they aren't quite 30% in output, it is that they are receiving 30% of the electricity. Second, what would the point of this be, if you just run it constantly why not just get the 6060 or 6080, the beauty of the electronic pumps is the pulse function which would be lost.

Thanks for the reply Roger,
I agree, there's no point in running the 6100 constantly at 30%! That's why I have decided to get the TS07 kit and perhaps purchase another Stream 6000 in the future if I need more flow.

Using the TS07 kit, I will still be able to see 22x turnover per hour... not bad at all.

I have read that another Stream 6000 can be hooked up to the single controller 7091 and the controller used to control both at once. is this correct?

Many thanks,
Chris

Yes, but I would upgrade to the multicontroller so you have seperate control over each pump, with the single controller they will both be doing the same thing.
