Tunze Streams

Anyone local use a tunze stream setup with the multicontroller that I could come and see? I'm thinking about getting 2x6000 with a 7095 for my tank and would like to see the Tunze up close and personal like.

I'm wanting more flow, and more random flow. The streams on a controller would be able to do a fair amount of back and forth, and would be wider and more random flow. If the mythical seio controller ever does come out and actually works, that would be another possibility.

You can do a 7091 with the branch adapter and accomplish basically the same thing for a lot less than the 7095 controller, but you won't get the alternating flow (but it won't really matter anyway). Also, you might want to consider the 6100s so if you ever upgrade you'll be good to go. Well worth the $$, IMO.

One of the reasons to go with the 6000s is that they can be upgraded to 6100s just by changing the transformer (I think about $80). So I could upgrade in the future if/when I get a bigger tank. That's interesting RE the 7091. That controller is a lot cheaper. Does it ramp up the flow on both streams so they each go from like 30% to 100% at the same time? Will that create random flow at the ends of the tank like I assume a 100%:30%, 30%:100% would do (rather than 100%:100%, 30%:30%)? In other words, would the 7091 only create random currents in the middle of the tank?

Another question I have, and the reason I want to see them in person, is to see how the flow looks and to get a feel for how easy it is to aim them. I think all the pics I have seen show them basically pointed straight out from the glass (mounted on the magnet).

A single controller will control up to 4 Tunzes in unison, which is the only downside. However, the flow will still be random (but less wave-like) since it can be adjusted. W/ two on either end pointed toward the middle of the tank, when the flow is at 100% the streams will meet in the middle flow around the backside of the tank, creating a highly turbulent flow pattern near the middle (more so than the 7095 IMO). At 30%, the effect is less pronounced. Also, with a little creativity, you can do that upgrade for about 1/3 that price (I think the XFMR is more like $90). If you get the Tunze magnets, the range is like +/- 30 degrees, with no vertical adjustment possible (other than moving the magnet up/down). HTH.

BTW, all my A. hyacinthus, clathrata, and willisae tables that people can't keep are in the middle and love the turbulent flow!

Thanks for the info, Dave! Hmm. I'm concerned that the 6100s would be too much flow for my 90. What's the secret creativity that goes into saving 1/3?
