Tunze Turbelle Stream holder modification

Although it's easy to move the Tunze Turbelle Streams side to side on their holders, there isn't any built-in way with the Streams or the holders to change the direction of the Streams in the vertical plane. Because of the weight of the Streams, if the holders aren't braced against the side of the tank, the Streams actually point a little downward. I wanted to direct the Streams upwards in order to create increased surface agitation and remove the direct flow of the Streams against some of my corals - this is a particular problem with my constant flow Streams which has caused tissue loss with some of my corals. My quick and easy solution was to cut a small length of 1.5" pvc pipe and ziptie it to the back of the holder. This forces the holder and the Stream to tilt at an upward angle. Thanks to the flexibility of the plastic holders, they don't break when directed upward against the brace that clamps the holder to the top lip of my acrylic tank.

I think one nice modification to the Stream would be some short accordion-like extension on the outflow of the Stream that would allow you to direct the Streams' output in the horizontal and vertical plane. The following are some pictures of the Streams in my tank set up with my modification:

In Europe this is resolved with a 50mm 45degree PVC elbow- I have some now and am arranging for more. PS, you could furtheer diffuse the pump with the 6200 screen in the future.

Roger,

I special ordered some metric pvc couplers like you described (cost a bunch and I still had to sand down the inside diameter a bit on the couplers to fit the outflow of the Streams), but after attaching them, they added too much length to the outflow. I think they would definitely work in a larger tank, but aesthetically, they made the Streams look too big in my "small" 150-gallon tank.

How come it's always Beavis and not Butthead? "Fire, fire, fire.."

Yes, I'm also interested in the 6200 screen. I didn't see anything in the new pdf.

The 6200 pump has a larger outlet- 63mm. It would be a spare part that replaces the current intake/output and would make a greatly reduced pressure broader jet. I haven't tried it yet but it should be possible.

I can see by the 2004 Tunze PDF flyer that the 6200 outlet is definitely wider than the outlets of the other Streams. Should I just contact you directly to get two of these outlets when they're available? How much will they be and when do you expect them to be in stock?

Have you seen any of the 2nd-generation Mercedes SLKs while you've been in Germany? I just sold my 1st-generation SLK for a new Toyota Sienna LE (one of the joys of having two young kids), and "upgrading" from a two-seater to an eight-seater has been quite the experience.

Yes, I have seen the new SLK. I am old mentally and can't justify a vehicle without 4 doors and 4 seats minimum. If money were no object I would drive a G class or Maybach. PM me and I will send you the prototype it is made of PVC and you can play with it.

I only have the one prototype now from the first beta version I got back in October but I should get some screens in a month or so.- BTW, I emptied my PM's so you can try again.
