7095 ~$275.00
Pros
1)Everything is set by buttons and knobs on the controller
2) Great for people who have no access or dislike computers
3) Reliable and proven
4) Features include Interval mode, Interval 2 mode, Sequential and Pulse, includes nightmode, foodtimer and intergated moonlight
Cons
1) Fairly old technology
2) Not upgradeable
7096 ~$165
Pros
1) All the modes of 7096 plus storm mode and wavemode
2) Software updates enable new features
3) 4 channels, i.e. each pump can be programmed independently on 7095 there are 2 channels, 2 pumps share the same speeds.
4) Much cheaper as your computer does the heavy work, the controller just saves the program and runs the pumps.
Cons
1) Can be tricky with some Windows installs, i.e. at present Win 7 requires use in Compatibility mode, for XP and Vista some proprietary changes from computer manufacturers and home made computers with various motherboard drivers may be missing certain drivers that are required or require manual configuration of ports. Installation is generally easiest when a full store bought version of Windows is used and not an OEM version that was customized. (Note that Mac OSX installs are very easy and truly plug and play)
