I am changing up my tank so I am selling my Tunze Wavebox. It has been used on my tank for a year.

Wavebox, Single Controller, and two tunze magnets.

do you think it would work well on a 84x48x24 tank

I am not sure of that one, I have heard on tanks taht wide they do not work well.

How much of a swing would it make on a 18"X72" footprint?

It would work very well on that.

I'm worried about it displacing too much water because my water line is only 1/4" from the black trim.

Can you tell me what the dimensions of the box are and how full it does get before it releases the water back into the tank?

the Tunze does not fill up all the way with water, it surges it out with a pulsing motion. If you are a 1/4 from the top then you would have to adjust something.

I have it at a 3/4 wave right now, but when I turn off my return pump i get a nice 1 1/2 wave from it.
