Tunze Wavebox

Hi All,

I recently had noticed my Tunze wavebox pump stopped spinning and seems to be shorting out the 24 vDC supply. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed this before. I'm guessing it time to find a replacement pump or a replacement system for the wavebox.

This is the mini wavebox 6206.200 turbelle

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

Take it in to Aquatek, they should be able to help you?

Thanks Alton, I actually called BRS and they gave me a TUNZE phone number to call. It appears they have a local area for Austin.

I will also try calling Aquatek tomorrow depending on what Tunze rep has to say.


Also, I am thinking if I can get the pump to dry out internally I might try some kind of JB Weld or similar product to seal the pump housing and the cable. Looks like the seal has become damaged over time. This box is about 8 years old. I think it had lasted a good while and probably worth what I spent on this one.

If this doesn't work I am not sure about spending a lots of cash for a new pump. Already replaced the power supply about 1.5 years ago. The controller supplied with 2 cables, master and slave has some damage(not working - probably normal wear and tear and can replace the cable if really wanted to spend more money)

I am also considering if this doesn't work finding a different a whole new replacement maybe with something of a newer technology.

Looks like a new pump is about 165 from the Tunze website. I am guessing a long lead time for this one since it is discontinued product.

I am open for suggestions if anyone has advice for powerhead or other wave solutions.

My tank is a 40 gal breeder aga drilled with a overflow box in the back center.

Look forward to your posts. What is everyone else using for wave simulation?

Roger Vitko is probably the number they gave you, I have never met him but he is great at answering questions. He may even have something used you can make work?

Just spoke to Roger $137.98 for a new pump(6055-cut by hand). Looks like roughly $290 is retail for a new unit (6208) which has a less expensive replacement pump for $97.45. One positive note about the new unit is that the power supply and controller are interchangeable between the units (6206 and 6208).

Still debating the cost since I'm a family man with a budget.

I think I'm gonna give repairing the olds chance since it might only cost a few dollars for some JB weld.

One way to explain to better half is stopping at a nearby pub = $50 a week x 4 times in a month = $200
Instead Fix wave maker and stay at home doing honey doo's and save $63.02 to buy a dozen red roses. Problem fixed.

Looks like it's completely dead. I can't get it to turn back on. Looks like I'll buy a new unit.

I found a 6208 on Amazon for 240.
