Turbelle Electronic Powerhead

I have a question about the flow deflector on the Turbelle electronic powerheads. In all of the pictures on the Tunze website, the deflector is shown facing up. Is this the preferred position, or does it even matter what position the deflector is in? Just wondering. They're neat pumps that push water.

It doesn't matter too much, it is just upward flow increases surface turbulence which benefits gas exchange. I usually aimed them slightly up and forward myself.
