I'm in the process of setting up my 150 gal. reef tank, and am considering using the Turbelle Stream pumps for circulation.
The tank size is 52" x 26" x 26" with two rear corner overflows. I currently am using an Iwaki WMD30RLT as a return pump and according to the head loss calculator, I'm getting somewhere around 850 GPH of flow.
My goal is to have the tank setup with a moderate amount of LR (not very open, but not too full either) and I plan on keeping mostly SPS corals. I definitely want strong circulation in the tank.
My questions are:
1. Would it be better to use 2, or 3 Turbelle Stram 6000s?
2. Is it better to mount them on the glass using magnets, or can I still get optimal flow using the Stream Rocks?
3. Is it possible to drill out some Live Rock to fit a stream pump?
4. why do the 6100s burn triple the energy, yet give out only double the flow? Has anyone actually amped their streams to see if the listings Tunze gives are accurate?
Thanks in advance for all responses.
