Turbo Snail survival?

Well I keep losing about two large turbo's a week now. Even with feeding my peacock every three days. He is roughly 4". I didn't think that my tubo snails could be taken out by him since they have thick shells. So what other snails could I use as a CUC? I started with about 15 or 16 snails and now down to probably 6 or 8. And he just started doing this recently (say within the last coupe of weeks). Also during that time frame he has taken out another crab. That doesn't bother me that he takes out the crabs, since they are in there for him. So any suggestions on what snails could I have in there with him.

Peacocks are one of the heavy hitters. Im not surprised that yours kills turbos. As to what might live, you might consider a conch if your tank is big enough. Brittle stars are sometimes left alone and they make good detritivores. Ive had bad luck with urchins, but it might be worth a shot.

I new my wennerae could take out ceriths but never knew they could take out turbos. What types of conchs could I consider? My tank is a 75gal.

In my experience mantids are somewhat gluttonous and if they have food around, they will just keep eating. Only thing I found that worked was keeping some aggressive damsels in with the snails, the damsels seemed to keep the mantis in his hide most of the time. Till he got hungry and killed them of course. Watching a smasher chase a damsel, hit it and eat it is a crazy sight.

My peacock stays in or close to his pvc home most of the day. He comes out more when the atinics only are on. I haven't seen him personally go after or across the tank to get a turbo snail. I think they being taken out when they get to close to his home. Now as for fish being in the same tank with him. Look at my current tank setup. I guess periodically I will have buy a couple at a time so I don't have to clean the glass that often.
