I am looking for a cheap but good sump based skimmer for a softy tank low fish bioload. Found a new out of box Turboflotor 1000 for $100. Then I need to add a $80 pump.

Good enough for the money or should I look for something used?

I had a Turboflotor 1000 a few years ago and it was very difficult to plumb and get dialed in. I would maybe look for something used. How much do you have to spend?

Right, I understand. Yeah I would look for something used. Do you ever get up to Columbia Station? Aquatic Technology has used equipment. Could probably find something pretty cheap there.

I have one. I used to run it on the side of my tank then i plumbed a sump and put it down there and it still works great. I think they are easy to use and arent to touchy with water levels.

Matt, do you have the 1000 Multi or the in-sump 1000? I had the original in-sump 1000. I've heard the Multis are a hell of a lot easier to set up and dial in.

t 1000

t 1000

the multi is pretty easy to use and works great. I could never get the regular 1000 to work for me or in any setups where people had one. They use a different pump on it now so maybe it works better.
