hi folks, I was wondering who are the owners of Aqua Medic Turboflotor 1000, I managed to dig one up & wanted some tips on setting one up. I also am not sure if I have all parts. waht is a good pump for it?

oh dex i have the recommended pump for it i'll sell, but it needs a new impeller so if you order the part let me no. if you don't want it i'll order the impeller anyway w/ your order.

Hey Dex. That is the skimmer i have been running all along. They upgraded the pump to an oceanrunner, used to use a rio. I improved the performance and raised the ph in the tank by using an air pump outside and pumping the fresh air directly into the air inlet. I also ream out the air inlet every couple of weeks, it clogs with kalk. Great skimmmer without a doubt and it costs $170 or so, although i probably paid double that from critters back in 1996.

Mike, do you use a regular air pump that rattles?

Funny thing Dex was i got the idea from Farley in the chemistry forum. I was skeptical but had a spot outside the house close to the closet which houses the sump so i tried it. I snaked some rigid tubing from outside through an existinng hole in the foundation. I had a little tetra deepwater pump laying around so i used it figuring it couldn't last a month outside. It has been out there 2years or so. My ph climbed and the skimmer performance improved, gotta luv it.
