Turn off pump

Likely no, not better. Water movement is a big part of gas exchange. Also, most plants/aglae will change from consuming Co2 to consuming 02 (emitting Co2) in darkness, IIRC. In thier natural habitat, the currents also don't tend to slow at night. GL!

Is it really that loud? I have had a few different tanks and never had it so loud that I couldn't sleep. What are you wanting to shut off?

Yes it's bad, you need water movement for gas exchange and to allow the biofilter to do it's job.

At the very least, a couple of powerheads should be turned on, the sump pump and skimmer can be off.

BTW - Get one of those expensive memory foam beds - you won't be awake long enough for the noise to bother you......or if you don't have the money....a cheap bottle of whiskey should do the trick.

you'll get used to it really quick. When my 30 gallon freshwater tank started leaking and I had to take it down, the house sounded too quiet! Now that my saltwater is up and running I can take a nap in a matter of seconds in the family room because of the soothing sound :lol2:
