Turning V-techs Off???

Maybe I missed it in my countless hours of reading the manual, and on the web, but is there a way to turn the Gen 2 OFF, besides unpluging the power cord, and battery cord??

I think I read on this forum once that you could do this by putting the driver in master/slave programing mode. That was with the gen 1, but should still work.

so does anyone know? I'm sure I'm, not the first one to ask this

I have always unplugged them. Not sure if this is right or wrong.

I unplugged them before as well to shut them off but that was a pain since the drivers were located in a room behind the tank. I then started using my Aquacontroller to power them on/off as needed. I just added the battery back-up unit's so now they drop to half speed when I cut the main power using the aquacontroller.....my instant feed mode work around without having to walk around and push a button. ;)

Cheers,

I am wondering the same thing. Seems a waste to have to unplug both the power cord and the battery back up.

Also, if you unplug both the power cord and battery back up I know for a fact that you have to reprogram the night mode. Do you also have to reprogram the the entire system, ie. the master and slave, reef crest, etc?

can one of you Eco-tech guys answer this for us, reprograming night mode and unplugging two cords to take pics or do some work in the tank is for the birds!....help us out please!!!

I asked this abought a year ago. And could not understand why when thay where doing the R & D for the pump that a simple on off switch, Or a reset button was not put on the drivers. I hate having to unplug the pump and bb to adjust or clean my pumps. Exc.... Its to bad that on a $400.00 pump. That one more 50 cent button was not added to do this. (I guess its kinda like them charging $15.00 for a few cent nylon washer for the wet side.)

there's still no switch on the driver box so unfortunately you'll still have to unplug the pump to maintain it.

Night mode is lost but pump will not lose it's memory for config when power is cut off.

Only reason why I know is because I went to flash a fellow reefer's Gen1 with one of my Gen2 drivers and all it lost was the night mode. :)

so they wont loose master/slave config. and what about the waves that are set in SP, and LP, those are lost along with night mode....what a bummer a pump that can communicate with 10 other pumps and can make a wave so big that water will go over the side of your tank but they lack an on off switch....Hey eco-tech when you make the Gen 3's make a code thats backwards compatible to shut the pump off with out loosing saved features....

They will not lose master/slave config and they will not lose your pulse settings.
Just the night mode setting period.....

In Gen 1 i just put the pumps in program mode by holding both buttons. That would stop the pumps and then to start again, just hold both buttons again. Worked great. In Gen2, now holding both buttons programs the night mode so don't think you can do the same thing. I have asked a few times but never received a reply.

Can anyone from ecotech/ice cap answer?

I've been researching this and have found a simple work around to allow you to temporarily turn the pumps off for Gen2 code.

For Master Pumps-
Press and hold Mode and Set
Tap Mode
Hold Mode (to return to regular functioning)

For Slave Pumps-
Press and hold Mode and Set
Tap Set
Hold Mode (to return to regular functioning)

What you're doing is basically re-assigning the masters and slaves as masters and slaves. They should stay on the same frequencies as before, but they will also stop spinning which is what you are hoping to achieve.

Cool. I guess that does make sense. One thing though, wouldn't you only need to hold mode on the master to restart both pumps? That's what you do when you actually program master/slave.

Thanks!

Will i have to reprogram night mode again after doing this?

MrSandman-

No. The only reason why you would have to re-program Night Mode is if you unplug the pump. In that case, Night Mode is the only setting which would have to be re-programmed.
