Turtle for salt water tank

I would bet that most saltwater turtles are protrcted and you won't find them for sale anywhere. And like Half Vaped said, they all get big... very big.

Even as young turtles, don't they have a range of hundreds of miles, growing to almost a thousand miles as they get older? Keeping one in a 36 gallon tank for your own pleasure seems somewhat cruel...

No. Sorry. Not even freshwater aquatic turtle. Most aren't aquatic, and that one that I think of that is grows the size of a washtub and would take your finger off.

Most turtles are protected and turtles that are kept in tanks usually outgrow them and are freshwater. Your 36 would not be capable of keeping any turtle for an extended period of time.

i agree with everything that's been said already.

if that's not enough discouragement though, here's one more: turtle poo.

its going to be a lot, disgusting and way more than any small system like that could ever handle without almost constant maintenance.

I've seen a total of one in an aquarium. A 1000G in a store and I believe they had a plan to re home him to a local public aquarium when it grew older.

Turtles need air, which means you would have to have an island sticking out of the top and a way for them to crawl up on it. This is probably not a good idea.
