I just gave CCBs another try. Last month I lost one (lasted two weeks), I love these fish and cant resist trying again. First day and still not eating, which, as i understand, is normal. question: should i buy another one to keep him company... strength in numbers? I want him to survive. He is in my 180 gallon tank with plenty of pods, so food shouldnt be an issue. I do not have aiptasia, which is good for me but bad for him. What do you think? two?

Almost certainly a bad idea in a 180 to add another CBB. You might try live blackworms, which many copperbands seem to eat.

where do you get them? I havent seen these being sold at my lfs. Do you generally order these online? I just did a search for live mysis shrimp a second ago, couldnt find any. Am thinking about setting up a secondary tank to harvest my 4 pregnant shrimps offsprings. also to grow more. specifically for my CBB

Ive heard that butterfly's do better in mated pairs and will exhibit behavior that they wouldnt normally. That being said, it means acquiring a mated pair of copperbands, which I havent ever seen.

We get them into our club by the pound. The problem with such a size order is that they are difficult to keep alive. This is the site we use:

Maybe some folks in the upstate reef society will split an order with you.

No offense, but it's ridiculous & unfounded that they do better in pairs, especially when very few people have BF pairs or have recorded any relavent information regarding this.

Some author of a magazine made this comment about CBB pairs............it's made it to the internet, & now somehow it has become a fact. It's just some guy's opinion who has never kept a pair of CBBs.

If you decided to try a make a pair you have to have control of removal or seperation & for most people that's not a display tank. This can lead to a bad situation that isn't going to help either fish.
