Would you consider putting two large Emperor Angels in one tank if they were introduced at the same time, same size and going into a two thousand gallon tank?

Depending on the dimensions of the tank I'd probably try it. I'm no angel fish expert though.

heres three in a tank. maybe a 75g tank at best.
personally, if i had a 2000g tank and wanted 2 emperors, i would try it. i would even in a 500g tank.

Well I am going to try it and see if it works out. i have a 500 Gal tank as well i can move one to if this does not work out. i am getting a really good deal on two X-mas island emperors. Less than $500 for both so I am going to see how it works. After a month in QT I will try my luck. I love emperors.

I have a 4.5 emp juvie(changing) and a same size chrysurus angel(along with a blueface, passer, personifer etc)
the emp juvie was in my DT for ~3 months. when i added the chrysurus angel, the emp juvie would give the chrysurus angel a high speed chase on the hour. i was almost ready to rehome the emp juvie. then i had to take all my fish out due to a parasite outbreak.
i had the emp juvie and chrysurus split in half with egg crate in a 29g for 7 weeks(DT was fallow). now that i have them back together in my 180g, they dont even give look at each other.
if you get the two emp's, i would suggest QT them both together in a 40g(depending on the size of the fish). split the QT in half with egg crate. i think after 4+ weeks of seeing each other and knowing they have no reason to fear each other, that would help increase the success rate when adding them to the DT.

That video and tank are ridiculous. Duplicating that tank would be an almost assured failure and even if you did succeed who's knows the longevity.
In a 2,000 gallon tank you shouldn't have any problems, though adult emperor's have a much larger territory in the wild and may try to dominate the other.

I would put them in a large qt together and separate them by eggcrate or acrylic before putting them in your display.

So, I got them today. It is the strangest thing. I know for a fact that they are both from Xmas island because this person only gets fish from there but what is interesting is that one of the emperors has a yellow tail and the other an orange tail. They are both about 8 inches. they both started eating within the hour og getting them. I have one in a 40g and the other in a 60 gal. In about two weeks i will move them both to the 60 with a divider. After about the month and me being confident that they do not have flukes i will place them in the main 2000 gal + tank. If they start to fight i will turn off the lights catch the yellow tail one and put it in my 500 gal. That is the plan anyway. I will post pictures in a month.

One more thing. What annoys me about the video in the above thread is not just being cruel to the fish but the fact that they all look heathy and yet some of us often suffer with hard to treat parasites when we try to provide the best quaters for the fish.

Good luck with the emperors and a 60 seems kind of small for 2 emperors. I think there would be more chances of aggresion in there then a 2000.

I agree why not just push the two qt's up next to eachother so they can see the ohter through the glass?

I had not thought of that. I will try that. My QTs are bare bottom. I wonder if the fish see a reflection of themself on the bottom glass and think it is another fish.
