I picked up two new frags the other day and was wondering about their id's. I was told they were enchinata's when i bought them and didn't have the heart to correct the guy at the lfs.

I think the one on the left is a <a href="http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/species_metadata/0791/view#">speciosa</a> and the one on the right is a <a href="http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/species_metadata/0015/view#">carolinia</a>.

Here are the two colonies.

The reason i'm thinking speciosa on the first one is because you can't see it in the horrible pictures (sorry about those), but it actually has a cream base, then green with blue tips. I thought the enchinata's were just two colors with just the very tips being different than the rest of the coral. Both colonies were also tabling.

It's a good thing you didn't have the "heart" to tell the LFS he was wrong...lol.

I do believe the first is an Echinata but possibly a speciosa.

I agree with A. aculeus, on the second.
