Two of my Picassos took the plunge

Like the title says, two of my Picasso Clowns took the leap of faith.
Only to find my female cat waiting for them.
I noticed her acting kind of weird, and carrying something. When I finally caught her, I realized just what she had. A tasty and expensive snack.
(Do I need to worry about my cat having had this fish in her mouth? Can it harm her in any way?)
I went to my tank, only to find a second picasso missing. The cat must not have seen or smelled this one yet. But it was kind of tucked up under the stand. HMMM, maybe she stashed it for later.
Anyway, I have an empty spot in my tank now, and I hope and pray that Marcye might be able to help me out. ;) ;) hint, hint. LOL.
Just thought I would share some of todays sorrow with you guys.:(

that SUX bad!! I had a Black clown take the leap on me and I was ****ed for days man, I couldnt imagine a Picasso.
Guess its a definate on SITC on Sat.

No lid on the tank? Anything wonky with your tank parameters to make 2 fish leap out? I know they do it for their own personal reasons sometimes but i'd be concerned with 2.. Unless the male was just THAT devoted to her :)

Sorry for your loss, though :( Just poking at some questions to make sure that they are the only ones .. Good luck with your recovery - and I wouldn't worry about the cat, probably healthier than Menu Foods items at the moment ><

No, parameters are good. Plus the other pair of them is doing great.
No lid on the tank. I am actually about to move everything in that tank into my new 75, which has glass tops.
Now that I realized which two it actually was, they always played chase with each other. Nothing more than just play from what I saw. But, these two have both ended up in the overflow. That is, before I meshed the teeth so that couldn't happen.
I don't know what happened here, I am just shocked that is was both of them. I could have dealt with one doing it, but two at the same time?
I even pulled out my Multi-Meter, and checked for stray voltage, but found nothing.
I am lost with this. Maybe my cat "fished" them out? No hair in the tank though.

They were trying to get away from the other clowns...

They have never bothered each other before, or at least not that I have seen.
Do you really think that is what happened?

It is possible. I tried 4 clowns in my 180 and they beat up the other two. I have 3 now but the smallest one does get picked on some. Two jumped my overflow and are still there. Just haven't had time to get em out. I feed them but it's a pain fishing in the overflow.

That was my first thought as soon as I read this...
Have you ever tested for stray voltage? Is it possible the cat was actually harassing them? It should'nt hurt the cat...I think they have been known to eat worse.;)

I did test for stray voltage, and found nothing. I am going to check for it a few more times, just to make sure something isn't straying every once and a while.

I forgot to add, with this cat, she was probably standing on the edge of the tank, trying to scoop them out. She thinks she is a mighty hunter. She normally stays away from my tanks, but I have seen her "slapping/pawing" at the fish when they swim by the front of the tank.
Luckily the other two clowns are moving into a new tank this weekend, with glass tops.

That cat has got to go!!!

That cat has got to go!!!

Thats the reason why I'm a dog person. I never have to worry about my Pits killing any of my fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/SIZE] lol You should have got a dog!!!!!!!!! j/k Sorry for the loss If you think it might happen again to remain one I'd be happy to take him off your hands. Just let me know we can step up a "seth" payment plan, ill do some tank maintaince or maybe you'd consider a trade for some Zoo's. ;)

If my dog was faster than the cat, she would have had it, and would have eaten it before I got it and figured out what it was. LOL.
Thanks for the offer of help with the others, but they are going to be fine with glass lids over them this weekend.

Ha, yeah, with a pit bull, you don't need to worry about him pawing in the tank...they'd rather just run it over and wait for everything to settle on the floor...then anything moving would get its fullest curiosity and attention:).
