hi everyone, i just got this fish yesterday and so far he seems to be doing good. He is eating pellets and frozen cyclop-eeze. I have read that they are peaceful and can reach up to 4". Right now, he is around 2". Should i have any problems with a cleaner shrimp that has pretty much been in the tank from the beginning? also, do they sleep in the sand like wrasses because last night, he didn't. Thanks!

I've had one for ~ 6 mo. Model citizen, eats all types of food. Don't know about the shrimps but no probs with barebottom tank.

Very pretty fish, frankly I'm surprised they aren't more common in aquaria.

I had one for about 2 years. Nice fish, eats shrimp, mine did not like any other wrasses and got much larger than the 4" more like 6. He basically chased out my radiant wrasse and I couldnt add any others after him. They dont sleep in the sand, they will exude a mucus covering and sleep in the rocks.

Good luck
Paul

They get more aggressive as they get larger. Kind of like how 6-lines get more aggressive as they reach maturity. I don't think their aggression is at that level though. I've had mine for a year and he's just starting to show a lil aggressive behavior.

2 spot hog fish are jumpers. Can be agressive and will def eat ornamental shrimp. An active and pretty fish. Good luck!

I agree with the above post.

I had one for over a year. He never bothered my Cleaner Shrimp and was never aggressive towards any other fish. It probably depends upon the tank size. Mine was in a 90 and swim in and out of the rocks all day. He was also about 3", but I lost him during a power outage. HTH

well so far he hasn't jumped during a water change and i accidentally left the hood off for a night so looks like he wont jump unless he is really scared. My cleaner shrimp is around 2-3 inches, do you still think he would eat it?

I think that shrimp is too large to get consumed but the fish may pick at him. Mine ate a few small peppermints I had.

This was the first fish I had in my 55, he did great with other fish but always nipped at my cleaner shrimp. He went six months coexisting with it until my wife and I left for the weekend and feeding was from an auto feeder... when I came back there were only a few bits left from my cleaner...
