Two tangs in 75 gallon

ive done a couple different tangs in a 75 before and it was just fine... as long as they arent the same body shape, or one of the tangs that get huge, i think you will be alright...

IMO, the Yellow Tang will be just fine, if it's the ONLY Tang. A 75 is not large enough for a Powder Brown Tang. Nor is a 75 large enough to house any 2 tangs.

+1 Powder Brown's get big..I've seen one about 8" and they stress easy

Posts like the one above saying "I've done it before" makes me wonder what happened...tangs live a long time. Where did they go if it all worked out peachy?

I would recommend againts it. I had a tiny blue tang in my 75 and then got a small Naso tang for a great deal. I'm setting up a 210 gallon so I thought they would do fine in the 75 gallon for a short while. Well it's taken me longer to get the 210 set up because of construction delays and it's been a mess with the 2 tangs in the 75 gallon. The tiny blue tang suddenly grew rapidly and so has the naso. They bullied other fish to death, I have to keep them well fed to keep aggression to a minimum and that throws off water quality. I can't wait to get them into a bigger tank.

I had a powder brown in a 55 for 11 years...ond day added new fish and 13 days latter woke up to all dead fish...never could figure out what happened..

my school has had a juvi sohal in a 55 for the past year and half...it was put in there more med reasons but seems to love the tank so theyve kept him there...hes now about 3" and boy does he look happy as a clam and fat too.....hes in there with a 6-line and mandarin....soon to be moved to a 250 when he gets about 5"

How big was it when it was first put in there?

After a year and a half it should be bigger then 3 inches, so something isn't right with that fish.

A powder brown in a 55 for 11 years. wow. A sohal in a 55 for the last year and a half. wow. Yet another instance where there are these 'fish whisperers' that say a sohal tang (yes a sohal tang) is in love with a 55 gallon tank, is happy as a clam, looks happy, and is fat too! But all is well, he will be moved soon to a 250...oh wait, that won't be until he's 5". In that tiny tank he probably won't make it to 5". And had that fish been in an appropriate tank, he'd be much larger than 3" in a year and a half.

I'm longwinded.

duly noted. You did add a more dramatic flare to yours... :clown:

What always confuses me is why people ask questions like this (no offence to the OP) when on every single page of this section, someone is getting rattled by the Tang Police. I mean, I won't even drink orange drink, for fear it might be ... well you know.

+1 to this. I hope for the sake of the fish they upgraded to a larger tank. I know some people will just trade it back into the LFS for credit when it outgrows their 55g. I know it's better for the fish, but honestly it just rubs me the wrong way. It'd be like if I bought a bull mastiff puppy thinking I'll just get rid of it in 2 years or so when it gets to be 100+ lbs and slobbers all over everything for another cute bull mastiff puppy instead. :rolleye1: I'm not trying to be PETA, the Tang Police, or make people feel bad, just my opinion.
