Any feed back on how to waterproof the stand as of now, before the doors and everything are put on?

If you're looking to cut costs on the doors and hinges, I would be on the lookout for used kitchen cabinets that you may be able to take the doors and hinges and refinish them to match your style. You may even be able to get in touch with a renovation contractor that would give them away to avoid the cost of disposal?

White latex paint inside the cabinet (top and bottom) to reflect light. You can use polyurethane to seal any other finish. I suggest you splurge on hinges and get stainless steel - something that won't rust out and fall off.

If you're cutting corners on hinges how will you afford a reef tank?

Don't need hinges, just use magnets to hold door panels on!

Hardware store. Check the big boxes first for lowest prices, but sometimes I find your local hardware will have weird things the big boxes don't carry, so check them out, too. There are specialty cabinet hardware sites on-line if you care to go Googling.
