I just bought this ro system brand new from bulk reef supply two weeks ago 75gpd six stage.... For the first two water changes it was perfect 0 tds I made about 150g out of the system.... I started the ro system today and filled up a 5 gallon bucket figure I test the water before I make anymore and now it's showing 44tds... Can anyone tell me why :hmm4::headwally:

It is possible you have burned through your DI resin already.

What is tour TDS coming out of your RO section. This would help to pinpoint a problem.

Are you on city water and if so do they use chloramines. If this is the case do you have the right carbon blocks for chloramines.

Yes I am on city water... You think I should just replace all of them.... Seen it on bulk reef supply for 50.00... The total tds coming out is 44...

I am interested in the TDS after the RO membrane and going into the DI column. I assume your total TDS is coming out at the end after the DI column.

If you have high TDS right after the RO membrane it could point to a problem with the membrane, or breakthrough on your filters prior to the membrane. On the other hand if you have low TDS after the RO membrane like 5ppm, then your DI resin is spent.

Ok I will find out today when I get out of work... Now I understand what u mean... Ok so I will test water before the DI resin. And after and will give u both readings.... Thanks @gonefishin

Stupid question, are you measuring the TDS of the water after it's in the bucket? Or from a clean cup or directly in the water line?
Just wondering if you're measuring salt residue from the last bucket of water you mixed in that bucket.

I agree with w1ngz. get a glass cup and make sure you rinse it and dry it out very good. Then test it in that cup. A tds of 44 means your ro membrane is shot. That seems very quick to happen. Mine is almost 2 years old and on the same one

Tads creep happens try wasting a few gallons the measure the tds. Don't measure the water at start up it will be high in tds.

Those numbers don't make any sense to me. I would try capturing the output water in a clean glass container and testing again. If your system was RO only (or the DI was exhausted) I would expect TDS in the 5-10 range coming out of the system. If it's really 55+ then I suspect there is a problem with the RO membrane AND the DI is almost depleted. Either way I would call BRS and let them help you out.

test your tap water to see where you are starting then retest your water in a small clean glass container and see what kind of readings you get. what kind of tds meter are you using
is there a lfs take can double check your readings
