type of wood for stand.

Thanks J! Ill be sealing the seams on the inside with silicone and then sealing the whole inside with some type of sealant. incase i get some spillage, it can retain a few gallons in there. The outside im still debating on what color stain to do, thinking either cherry or a dark brown (chocolate like) stain. Ill most likely go with the dark brown scheme.

I can't wait to see the final product...I'm sure it's gonna be awesome! Just a suggestion, it would be a good idea to have some sort of ventillation inside the stand...maybe you could cut two holes in each corner to let air in and out and install a small fan.
Another thing to consider, is to install a power station inside, preferably on the side of the cabinet and away from splashing water...now is the time to make it neat rather than dealing with it when the sump is full of water.
Lastly, it would be wise to install a light inside the stand so it will be easier to do maintenace. hth.

Thanks for the suggestions J! didnt think about putting fans and installing the lights directly on the stand! as far as power supply, i am planning on putting 2 american dj ps on the right side or on the top front so when you open the doors its just right there.

There is more problem with your stand. The support legs in the back is not right under the crossbar. You will need to do the same like the front corners.

Yep.

Rommelgin, make sure that the top frame is sitting on top of the vertical posts for all four sides. It's the vertical posts that transfers all that load onto the floor. Don't design the stand where the load has to be transfered through screws or bolts.

Also, you need to reinforce that header (front horizontal 2x4) if you are not going to to put a center vertical post. Like in Elite's thread, for a six foot span, you'll need a 2x6 header.

I'm impressed you guys just crank these things out in no time at all. I've been building my stand for about a year now!!

Below is pic of my stand from last year, and I'm still working on it:mad: . It measures 69"L x 32"w x 42"h . The tank is 48"L x 24" x 24". I made the stand bigger because I wanted the extra counter space. It also allows me to stand on it and stick my head in the tank - if a need ever arises:).

Well, 10 days later and i didnt get much done. Heres some shots of the stand with the back supports in place...might i add under the horizontal supports that phong and sid700 pointed out. :D also the extra supports in place on each corner that i pointed out earlier.

seams inside siliconed and wood sealant applied. need a couple more cans and layers though.

I decided after all that i will add a center support in the front since its too late to use 2'' x 6'' header to keep an open front but no big deal.

Heres shots with the tank on just to get a glimpse of what im in for.
