types of water filters

i currently use walmart water and would like to get rodi unit but i do not like the fact that for every gallon of rodi i will waste another 2 gallons....are their other types of filters out there that are more environmentally friendly ?

I'm not sure if there are more efficient RO/DI units out there. On the average the waste is about 4 times what the actual usable water is. If you get an RO/DI unit, which you should, try and find some ways to save the wasted water by storing it in larger containers. You don't necessarily have to waste the water. It can be used to water plants, given to dogs or cats to drink, used to do laundry, or you can drink it yourself.

thanks allen...i remember someone told me they had a cold water system and what ever that was it didnt waste any water ?????
