Typhoon Skimmer- No Clue

I have my new typhoon skimmer all setup, and my tank is finally filled. I really have no clue how to adjust anything and get it working right. I can adjust the water level in the skimmer but thats all. Can anyone help.

I got my water level correct, but what about the air control. Is this how I control the bubbles, when I took off the controller theres was a lot of bubbles and foam started rising a bit. Should I even mess with it till I have rock in the tank.

controller? do you mean the air line valve unit? If so just turn it to open it up and then adjust the air intake, I leave mine wide open or hook it up to an air pump for more bubbles. If you do not have anything living in the tank the skimmer will not do anything.
