ugh oh.....are these dino's?

Yeah JG1, dont give up man! Lots of us have had these along with a myriad of other pests. SOme of us may ought to even call our reeftanks marine pesttanks instead half the time! lol Youll get through it after who knows how long, but it will end and youll be off to the next disaster!

Keep your head up!

You did the 1mL per 10 gallons?

How many days did you do this?

Yep, dosed it for 5 days.

1st day - saw no results

2nd day - saw some results

3rd day - saw major dino reduction

I did see some PE reduction for the first few hours after I dosed but that was it. You can probably do the same dosing schedule unless you see some stress to the corals.

Could it not be a diatom bloom?

Just a thought.

Here's a vid I just took showing my rock. You can see pretty much everywhere has the little bubbles. I had about 10 turbo snails in here that I used when my tank was going through the algae cycles. I gave them away though because they were always knocking corals over. I don't have any snails now except a dozen or so nassarius snails for the sanbed and 10 or so small nerite snails.

From the vid, it seems like the flow is very weak. Near the end, the milli's PE is great but it's barely moving. Do you think your tank has enough flow?

I have two MP40's that alternate between ReefCrest @100% and NTM @ 80%. The ReefCrest mode has very random flow and at times cycles down to very low flow......which is probably what you saw.

Hi there John,

How is the algae issue? Is it resolved? Have you established as to whether it is Dinos?

My SPS are SUPER BROWNED out. I've never seen such browned out SPS! :worried2: The Ultra Algae X did work. But it looks like they are now coming back. There is a light brown frosting on my sand...but I am not sure if it is Dinos yet.

PS, what type of rocks have you got in the tank? Due to the issue of Dinos and Vermatid snails I am thinking of rebooting my reef tank...

I live in the UK, but want to ship over 50lbs of Marco Key Largo Rocks. It will cost about $278 due to the high shippinf cost...but I want rocks which are clean and without pests.

I know from reading around that the Marcho KEY LARGO ROCKS are the better option. Let me know if that is the rocks you are using.

Regards.

It's kind of static right now. After I blew it all off i started dosing 11ml of H202 nightly and that had kept it's regrowth minimal. I did 9 days of that and just stopped dosing so I'm not sure if it's going to regrow back in full bloom :hmm2:

My rocks are from Bulk reef supply. I bought the dry fiji which has excellent shapes.
