My electric bills have always been high! I was wondering what your average kWh is per month? Is my usage much more than the average person?

I have been trying to understand my electric bill and it is very complex to read. I get a ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œGeneration Service energyââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ charge and a ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œDistribution chargeââ"šÂ¬Ã‚, it seems to me that I am getting double charged?

you used 1606 KWH in 28 days.... you electric co. charges you 0.055845... 1606 is very average

You bill is close to mine, you are being charged for the actuall electric @ 89 bucks and you are being charged to deliver it to you house. plus all those taxes for 133.

Looks right to me.

Actually, $.145 per KWH is kinda cheep. CL&P is more like $.165. So you saved $32 for living in New Haven.

.145 is their winter rate. Come summer the rates are higher. Plus from what I understand they are also requesting as CL&P did a rate hike, only not as high. It looks like you don't use electric heat so I'm guessing a good chunk ($50-$60per month) is coming from your fish tank. I have UI as well and with my 29gal I figure it costs me about $20-$25 per month.

Also if you have central air that adds to the bill, cause you need electric to push the heat through the house and hw heaters can be electric as well. Average bill in CT is like 150.00 bucks so figure the average person doesnt have a tank in there home.
