Probably should have posted this here instead of in the reef discussion forum . My bad.
I have a mated pair of clown fish, had them for about 6 months now. Up until two weeks ago these two fish did everything together, very calm and not aggressive to each other at all. Two weeks ago the male found its way into one of the overflows. Finally got him out, actually he found his own way out down the drain and into the sump. I put him back in the DT this morning and since then they have been fighting every time they get near each other. Very vicious fighting as well. So what's up with them, are they now "an un-mated" pair? This really stinks, they were really good together.
Also when the male went into the overflow he was there for almost two weeks. I swear the female just hovered by the overflow grate literally day and night. I am not a salt water fish shrink but it seemed like the female was lost without the male and somehow sensed he was right on the other side of that overflow. Ok, keep the laughter down to a minimum please.
Boy they are PO'd at each other now. Actually I think the female is the one that is upset. The male keeps approaching her and she really gets nasty. She goes right for the face and then they tumble around for a little bit then go off to their respective corners. The male then makes another attempt to swim by the female and finally she turns on him again.
I hope they make up before one or both of them end up dead.
