Understanding what Frags might end up like

Hello,

I'm trying to learn about corals and what's what, but I'm finding it really hard to figure out which coral is which. I can see lots of pictures of little frags on coral store sites, but it is very hard to see what they might look like grown out after a few years.

Is there any site around that shows both frag pictures and corresponding large images of the same corals?

Thanks,
Tim

Best bet is to pick a coral you like then use Google images. You can usually find pictures of colonies that way. Most sites will only post pictures of the frags there selling if it's wysiwyg or a stock generic photo.

It is nice when vendors show the parent colony but in house aquaculture is uncommon. Often these dealers are buying from wholesalers so they only have stock photos or wysiwg. And the latter occurs with auctions or when frags are more expensive (partially due to the numerous costs associated with wysiwg).
top shelf said it best. I often forget that youtube videos can be very helpful as well.

The problem with comparing any given frag to a larger colony is that there are many variables that dictate just how that frag will grow. Lighting, flow, placement int he tank and proximity to other corals all play a huge role in how it will develop over time.
