Underwater Digital Video

The video camera arrived late this afternoon, and I was also able to order the single video light & bracket kit for it. :)

BTW: The picture above is the actual size of the unit.

The complete system will be like the picture below left for now, but eventually I'll probably add a 2nd light to the system for maximum video quality.

I'll actually be picking the lights and mounts up @ Divers Supply on Friday morning on the way to Florida... I have the camera already, but the lights and mounts had to be ordered.

I took these at "Armchair Reef" in Grand Cayman last Wednesday... We became pretty close personal buddies, since I was only a few inches away from him.

It was every bit of 4 1/2 to 5 feet long, and was acting pretty aggressive! :eek2:

I've lost the ability to use PM's here, so that's not possible... If you click on my name then scroll down to the {VISIT TGREENE'S HOMEPAGE!} link, you'll find my contact info at the bottom of the first page. :)

But i just got a Kodak Zi8. thought i might as well post it here since its kinda on the subject i guess. I got it because i saw Ikelite made a housing for it just like the samsung you have. I plan on gettin gthe housing and maybe to dual light set up before i go on my honeymoon.

Im Liking it so far. Pretty good quality for low light aquarium filming. Was playing around with it and decided to post one of the clips of my tank. It films in full 1080p, and 720p@60 frames per second (better for fast moving action) as well as the normal 720 and 480. It also has a macro button. Youll notice it when i try to zoom in on the clam, it will be blurry, then youll hear a click, and the view will get really clear again and really close up to the derasa. Please excuse the clams in the containers...im still kinda acclimating them and making sure they dont have pyrams.

The one thing that I HATE about my system is that the lights are incredibly floppy with the LocLine... That said, I'm planning to create a couple of rigid handles by either putting PVC tubing over the LocLine or having a set of handles specifically machined for the mount that also have the ability to add a couple of sections of LocLine at the top of the handles.

Thanks. They're a bit "rough", but this was my 1st actual attempt at underwater video and as mentioned a couple of posts above, the handles are really floppy underwater... I did try sleeving some LocLine in Sched-40 PVC and it seems to work but slid around a bit, so I'm going to try some Sched-80 and ABS to see if they work any better.
