I need to take two pieces of glass apart that were siliconed together les than 24 hours ago - whats the best agent to loosen up the silicone and get the glas to be removeable. I already cut the silicone along the edges.
your best bet is to simply scrape the silicon off. I don't know of any good silicon solvents.
A heated wire might help loosen it, but I'd worry about breaking the glass. emersing the glass in hot water might make it easier to work with but you don't want to thermally shock the glass.
To get them apart initially you can work a piece of fishing line (or strong string) down the seal. You'll need to scrape off all the silicone to reseal the glass.
Yeah - I got it - just had to be a little more forcefull than I wanted .
Now - the reson I asked was that I had siliconed a new 24" long overflow for the back of my tank. I drilled the holes last night and was so glad it turned out that I rushed to install the overflow box on the back wall. In my haste I forgot to put the bulkheads through the holes . So as you can guess the bulkheads didn't fit in the overflow box since its only 2.5 inches wide and even if they did they were not turing to go into the hole
