Unidentified Coral

It has a SKELETAL base and when it shrinks you can see the ridges ALMOST like a plate coral.
I think it is some type of CHALICE.
 
It's a plating hydnophora, I have a 3.5" round piece sitting on my sand bed. Don't let any other corals get too close or its lights out for them, I have seen 6" sweepers on mine, and its agressive. I only had it that close to the favia and acan for a pic, then back into its isolation corner it went.

I work with hundreds of chalices and can tell you that they are not fleshy at all, and do not retract, unlike yours. However the scattering of mouths/"eyes" does sound chalice like.
 
maybe if the water quality is not the best you cant tell exacly what it is. Or maybe it is so rare know one has ever seen it.
