Uniseal vs Conventional Bulkheads

Thoughts?

Im getting ready to drill the back of my 40B and was planning on using slipxslip 3/4" bulkheads, but then I saw the uniseal?

Just looking for anyone with experience for suggestions. Thanks :)

They don't use the same size hole as a normal bulkhead. That caused me some issues. I won't be buying anymore.

Personally, for flat surfaces like tank and sump walls, I still prefer bulkheads. For surfaces that are somewhat flexible or aren't flat, like garbage cans that hold freshwater or salt water for water changes, I prefer Uniseals. I just worry that I'll crack my tank (glass or plexi) when I try to push the PVC through the Uniseal. Even when I used them on my garbage cans, I found myself spinning and twisting the PVC to get it through the Uniseal. I can't imagine doing that on a tank.

i would use a normal bulkhead on glass because uniseals fit around pvc really tight and i would be worried about the outward pressure against the glass could crack it, i use them on plactic items like my water change barrel

I would also recommend placing a bead of non-toxic silicone between the glass and rubber seal and between the rubber seal and bulkhead. Just an extra layer of leak protection!
