UNknow bug on ACRO any help

I did a freshwater dip on a coral that was about to be gone nothing big enough on it to frag so I tried the freshwater dip and the bugs didnt fall off. I am at a loss.

I am going to try and interceptor dip on one of the infected corals to see if that does anything to the bugs

very interesting - can you describe them further or post closer up or higher res pictures? do they have legs? on one of your shots it appears that they do

I will try to get some better picks, I am also going to get a stronger magnify glass to see if I can get a better description.

update I have placed a coral in a interceptor dip, while dipping that coral I took another coral out of my tank to look at it under a better jewlers glass. The thing looks almost like a brown shell with a worm inside of it. You guys have any idea

We have them too. They are eating all of our birdsnest right now. Have you found anything that kills them yet? Please keep me updated, we have two that are almost dead. They look like they are STN but when I saw the pics you posted of your sps that is exactly what is on ours.

Thanks
Jenny

We took one of our birdsnest, the brown one, and dipped it in lugol's idodine solution and they started squirming and dieing off immediately. I tried to get some pics but they aren't real great, but I will post them soon. From what I could see, after they came off the coral they looked more like worms with legs, mini centipeeds or something. They are about 2mm long and 0.5mm wide.

Here are some pics, they aren't really what yours look like, but here they are.

Here are two pics of the coral while being air dried, you can see them pretty easily here.

This next pic is of the coral while being dipped. You can kind of see the bugs floating in the iodine solution.

Here is the best I could do of the bugs themselves, we placed them on a white sheet of paper. There are two of them right next to each other.

And this last one is the coral back in the tank, thoroughly ticked off.

I hope this helps, please keep me updated with your progress as well.

I also put one of the bugs under the microscope (tried to get a pic of it that way but it didn't work). The bug had scales over its body, multiple legs, and a big mouth.

yeah, i noticed the same thing, but they don't curl and swim like a copopod and they stick to the coral. There was a copopod on the rock and it died also in the dip. The bugs are more worm like or centipeed like, staying flat and glued to the surface. They move very slowly. Once they were dipped they started inching around on the coral like an inch worm for about thirty seconds before they died. They never swam off or jumped off like copopods do.

These were just our observations, I've never seen these anywhere before. Any other ideas are appreciated.

Thanks
Jenny

Jenny I am at a lost like you are . I have email Anothy Calfo to see if he had any Idea , I am also emailing Steve Tyree to ask him as well. Interceptor seem to do the trick on the bugs like you have pics of after 3 hrs all dead.
