In the past month I've purchased.
Two Ocellaris Clowns
One lawnmower blenny
One of the Ocellaris Clowns died within 5 days of purchase (body not found--I have 100 lbs of live rock). The other lasted about two weeks. I bought the lawnmower about a week after the second Ocellaris died (no visible signs of any problems on the second ocellaris) and now, while I haven't seen a body, I haven't seen the blenny in about four days.
All the while, my water chemistry seems spot on (double checked by LFS):
Amm. 0
pH 8.4
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
Salinity 1.023
Temp between 78 and 80
even bought some other test kits to check other variables:
Copper 0
Phosphates 0
Calcium 360 (a bit low, but that shouldn't affect fish).
kH 9
I also have lost two of my three peppermint shrimp across the last month (no bodies found but haven't seem in a while).
All the while, I've had three yellow tail damsels which are doing well and many snails (cerith, nassarius, turbo and stomatella) and hermits which all appear fine. Indeed, the stomatella have spawned three times (that I've seen!). Also, my zoas, mushrooms, anthelia, frogspawn and trumpet coral appear to be doing just fine.
What could I be missing? Fish are too expensive to keep adding them and having them die/disappear.
