Unusual behavior after acclimation?

I just acclimated an octopus into my setup. It took approximately thirty minutes to acclimate. It has been in the tank for approximately one and a half hours and is staying towards the top of the tank moving horizontally along the glass. It is breathing somewhat rapidly, however, I believe this could be attributed to the amount of activity he is displaying. Just wondering if this is a normal response or if there is something that may be overlooked. Temp is approximately 80 degrees, specific gravity is 1.023, ammonia and nitrite undetectable with Aquarium pharmecuetical test kits. I would appreciate any timely responses.

It may depend on the species, but many octopus will pace when added to a tank. This is particularly common in diurnal species such as H lunulata and O. cyanea. The heavy ventillation suggests some stress or at least agitation at the new surroundings.

Still, there is not much to be done except possibly visually isolating the animals or during down or off the lighting. Also, 80 is a bit high for most species.
