I just recieved this wonderful mantis from My favorite LFS.I have no clue what species of mantis it is but apparently it came in on the LR from the gulf of mexico(we think since it was found wondering around the LR holding tank and thats where the stuffs been coming from lately)It is sorta pink sorta orange.I cant put a name to the color ,its so unusual. It is only 1.5 inches long and is quite active. It seems slightly more agressive than my wennerae mantis but might be the same type of mantis.I am very pleased to have it.

Here is some pics of it.The first pic is a true representation of color. no touch ups.The second pic was dark so I lightened it up and adjusted the contrast, but thats it.Enjoy.

Can you take a pic of the telson? The Telson is the very last part of the tail with ridges on it. So if you could take a pic straight on from behind and aboe the mantis that would help with the ID.

The problem with identifying N. Wennerae is that there are alot of colormorphs. Red is slightly less common than green, brown or blue. The coloration has to do with background color and exposure to light.

And its telson is similar to other mantis telsons. But 9 times out of ten if you have a small mantis it's a N Wennerae
