This is a male cuban neon goby,Elacatinus evelynae, tending their nest.
They spawned in the open,on a side wall close to the surface. This is unusual for gobies as they use to place their nests in hidden locations.

No te dijo el gobio, "oye chiquitico alla en La Habana nosotros ponemos los nidos donde to' el mundo los vea"

Unusual indeed.

No has oido del problema de falta de vivienda que tienen alla?:D
On a 2nd thought, this could be indeed the cause. While I provided some short PVC pipes, they share the tank with other gobies,E.figaro from Brazil and Gobiosoma parri from Uruguay, and perhaps they are claiming the pipes and bullying the evelynae away.Sounds like an intl.conflict! :p

Ok,ok stop it,you´re making me feeling feeling like the bad guy:p
I will translate Ed´s jokes until you guys go and learn some Spanish (which you should)
Ed says:Didn´t the goby told you (cuban slang)"Hey boy,in Havana we put our nests where everybody can see"
And I said :"Haven´t you heard about the lack of places to live problem they´ve got there?"
Vous comprenez,maintenant?Nicht wahr?
David,"ditto"e una parola italiana;)
But I am lost with Ed´s "RAC" Acronyme?
It´s a small world after all:)

Let's see here... I was born and raised in California which is about half Mexican. Then I lived in Miami for a couple years, no need to speak any Spanish there  I then spent 12 years in St Thomas where half the population is either Puerto Rican or Domican (DR). In all that time I have barely managed to learn how to ask for cold beer and locate the bathroom :)

The worst part is I've been trying to learn Spanish since I was about 20

I can spice it up with a little Netherlands too :D

Luis I have a couple of priolepis hipoliti which does exact the same. They wahre not supposed to be in that tnak but both found a way through my U-pipes. This tank is an algea tank and does not contain any hidding places. Hence the window breading setup.

RAC, riendo a carcajadas=LOL

You better start leaning

For english press one
para espanol oprima el dos;-)

Funny thing David, virtually every Latin immigrant in Miami, complains that they have no chance to learn English or improve it,because they never have to use it!

Peter,I would toss some pipe nests in the tank...
