unusual paly

At least I think it is a paly. I got it from my brother. In his tank it was kind of a cream white. It has started to color up to this in my tank. Formerly under pc's, now under MH.

It's good to finally see something that is truly rare. Often color is the only factor that causes one to experience the WOW affect. What makes this colony very different, which by the way is definitely a Palythoa, is its detailed charactoristics. It is even more prevelant using a eye piece. Note the bisecting slit in the oral opening. Now look at the perimeter of each polyp, this is what has my jaw dropping. Look at the alternating nodes, ( nodules ) between each lash on the skirt of the polyp. This is crazy rare. I have never, in 14 years seen this trait before. If I were you, I would quickly frag off every polyp that has begun to bunch, or roll up if you will because they are growing so tightly together. I would love to see them strecth out and expand naturally. I love the color as well, sort of a pale mint green or light olive green ( GREEN OLIVES ) .

Have you tried feeding them to see how they respond?

That is one special paly in my book. Glad you posted it.

Thanks for the compliments. The largest food I feed is cyclopeze and they do seem to eat when I spot feed. I'll update if they morph further.

that is pretty wierd. I wonder if it is a stress trait, or just a funky chromosome/gene...I would be interested to know if you frag a polyp, will it reproduce the same way?

Since these are truely "different" ---

dont sell them! keep them and trade them, but there is no reason to sell just to make a buck IMO. (not saying you will)

dang that would be sweet to name you own. What I think you should do it break of a piece of those, send it to Marvin's reef, let him nuture them, then send them back. At that point you could either frag them for us lesser capable Zoa/Palyps people. Or just keep them.
