Upcoming frag swaps???

Yes many people bring in tanks and their frags to sell, you will give money for something you like and in return tank a bag filled with water and liked piece home to add to your display.....

Heh - Mike's messing with you. While called 'swaps', very little non-cash trading goes on. Vendors (some commercial, others just hobbyists) have tables set up with displays of all types of coral offered for sale. It's a great way to add to your collection at >very< reasonable prices. There is also usually a raffle and door prizes; the items available in those can easily make the whole trip worth it (lighting, RO/DI units, media reactors, and so on).

Hobbyists often have presale pitches on "swap" or "presale" threads starting two to three weeks before the actual swap date. I have not seen any of those threads in West Tennessee Reef Club forums so far, but I usually see many "presale" ads in MTRC, ETRC, and Chattanooga (R2R) forums. A lot of people post in these threads or PM sellers to have frags reserved.

How does it work will there be stuff you can buy or is it swap only I'm just started my tank back up in april and only have a small peace of zena and a couple mushrooms but I would like to get several small peaces to go in my tank.I love to get tinny peaces and watch them grow I get more out of that than I would if I got peaces.

Most everyone is looking to sell rather than trade. You can get all kinds of softies, zoas/palys, LPS, SPS, etc. starting at around $5 or so. It sounds like it would likely be worth your time to make the drive to Montgomery to attend our swap on November 6th.

Thanks everyone for the information! We haven't been to the Montgomery frag swap, but we went to the one in Nashville area in January and picked up a lot of great stuff for very reasonable prices. I've heard a lot of great things about the Mont. swap and the quality and price of the frags. Can't wait to get there....oh by the way, what time for the swap?
