By my counting (which could be off), I got my liverock from TBS about 7 or 8 months ago. Since then, I've had to move my tank from my desk at my former job to home and we had an unfortunate incident this winter where my husband, with good intentions to save on utility costs, turned off the thermostat at home while we were at work while I had removed the heater from the tank. Still, amazingly, so much of the life that came with my rock has survived! The fact that my tank has been through so much yet still is going so strong is a testament to TBS live rock!
I'll post some pictures after I do my weekly water change/cleaning, but for now, here are some of my lists.
Corals -
Several separate colonies that came with the rock + a few very hardy cup corals.
Livestock (All from TBS) -
4 limpets - I started with one and I believe there were babies at some point as the other 3 grew from tiny.
1 red mithrax crab - this guy is great at picking deritus off rocks and has never touched my fish.
1 Rock Flower Anemone - I was nervous about her at first, thinking she might eat everything in my tank, but she is the star of my tank and has never eaten anything but the shrimp I feed her. She has even taken on color over the year and it now a soft pink/orange.
Giant Feather Duster
Brittle Starfish - This guy doesn't live up to his name...he is a hardy creature. There have been a few times I wondered if he made it, not seeing him for a couple of weeks, and then he would come up to get his share of the shrimp
Random fish - a blenny of some sort? In any case, he has hung in there through it all.
Would I still get TBS live rock? Not only would I, I don't think I'd get live rock from anywhere else. It really is such a huge difference having rock that comes to you that really does have all the life still in it. Your tank comes to life immediately in ways that other tanks may never. It was definitely worth all the worry and waterchanges!
