It finally attached...its mouth is still not closed but at least its attached. Is it normal for an H. malu to attach to a rock that is completely out of the sand? Right now it looks like its wanting to get out of the cave.
Dear Christina,
Thank you for updating us on your Sebae anemone. It can be normal for this species to attach its foot to a rock or bury it in sandy substrate. We are happy to see that the anemone appears to be improving.
well I thought it was..now it seems to be going down hill.
It got itself completely out of the cave and then stayed on its mouth all day on thursday. I kept thinking maybe I should flip it back over..so I did ..and it kept flipping itself back on its mouth. I thought it found a good spot after that but it wasn't happy with there either and moved again.
here it is getting out of the cave.
both of these pictures were taken on thursday.
I thought it would stay there but it wandered around to a place that was between rock and glass..not a good place for it to be even if it was happy.
Today it looks like some one stepped on it. ..all tentacles are looking like deflated balloons.
My tank has been up and running for over a year, I do 12 gallon water changes per week..it is in a 120 gallon tank + refugium and I have a coralife skimmer.
SG 1.026 < that was tested with the new refractometer I just got from you guys weeks ago.

Thank you for sending the really vibrant pictures of your Sebae Anemone. We would recommend continuing watching your Anemone; however we suggest not moving the specimen. Each time it is moved more stress is created. It takes time for the Anemone to acclimate to your aquarium and settle in an area that makes it happy.
Thank you again for the beautiful photos. We are happy to assist you in helping your anemone to become more comfortable in your aquarium. You may wish to dig a hole in the substrate and expose the glass where you’d like your anemone to stay. You could also dig a hole in the substrate and place a very flat rock about 2 or 3 inches below the sand bed. These anemones prefer to attach to something very flat and smooth. Only the tentacles will be visible with gravel or sand substrate surrounding the foot and column for protection.
I tried to find a smooth surface, like plexi glass that I put under the sand. Then I put the anemone on the plexi glass and put sand around it. I had to do that because my sand is too deep to get to the glass under the sand. It still wouldn't attach to that and it keeps flipping itself over. It doesn't have any interest in food and its mouth is still very open.
We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing with your anemone and thank you for keeping us posted. The Sebae Anemone can be very difficult to acclimate. It requires intense light and a medium water flow. Even when these conditions are achieved this task can be quite complicated. Leaving the anemone alone and allowing it to attach on its own is ideal. This ensures that the anemone does not experience any additional stress.
We have extended your warranty on the anemone for an additional week through 2/15/08. We ask you to please contact us with any changes.
What happened? This morning it was upside down again when I looked at the tank. When I helped it flip over right side up..it looked like this..
I am upset..it looks like its on its way out. I use my aquarium gloves every time I put my hands in the tank. I would only handle the anemone when it was upside down, moved it to a place where I told to place the anemone and putting the anemone in the aquarium. Before I would help it flip itself over I would wait several hours..almost all day before I thought that it needed help. Thursday I waited all day and all night for it to flip itself over. Everything else looks great..like my frogspawn, kenya trees and xenias. Maybe I'm over reacting. It might look like this because its been on its mouth most of the night. It has sand on its mouth and I see a bit of its insides. It might be doing a internal water change like a bta..maybe it will perk up when the MH lights turn on.
Thank you for updating us on your Sebae Anemone. While it does look at bit stressed please rest assured they are able to flip over on their own when they are ready. We know it is very difficult to leave the anemone alone but we strongly recommend no intervention over the next few days. The anemone still has great color on it. Once the lights come on your aquarium it should help it perk back up. Even though you are using your aquarium gloves every time the anemone is touched that may stress it more. We have extended your guarantee on the anemone until February 15th. We appreciate your concern with the anemone please keep us informed on its health.
We are sorry to hear about the anemone. If the anemone is starting to fall apart we recommend removing what you can. We also recommend performing a 15% water change and adding some fresh carbon to your filter. We have placed a credit on your account with us for the cost of this order for you to use on a future order. We apologize for any inconvenience.
